Power of Love and Relationships
Relations Between People
People would like to believe there is a criterion that determines what they deem acceptable for their partners. Indeed, the are under control of some factors of attraction they probably do not even think about. The following factors are assumed to cause an attraction.
The more people see their future partners, the more likely they are to be attracted. Taking int consideration the amount of time people spend around someone they want to get to know, it is obviously that this closeness provides the easiest way to get attracted.
An old proverb is pointful here: “birds of a feather flock together”. Study revealed that the similarity between two of them would likely result in more attractiveness.
Reciprocity of Liking
People tend to like those who also like them back. If people feel good when they are around somebody, they tend to rise a level of attraction toward them.
Physical beauty is a main factor of attraction besides. People tend to make friends with those who they believe to be attractive and who are close to how they perceive their own physical attractiveness
When people are in a good mood they are likely to give more 'likeability points' to someone they like.
These factors of attraction are derived from human innate need to belong. When people have close relationships, autonomy and competence in their own lives they have a strong sense of well-being because the happiness and need are almost satisfied by close relationships. The extent to which people are sociable and have friendly bond contact influences on their self-esteem as well. The most of very happy people are usually highly social and have stronger romantic relationships than other less-social groups. The fulfillment of the need for belonging is connected with life satisfaction, greater subjective well-being, physical health and positive affect.
People, who are more sociable, are likely to participate in political, religious and cultural life of their commune. Besides, negative emotions and social isolation is related to greater stress and lowered self-esteem, impaired immune system function and diminished self-regulation.

Different age’s categories have different purposes of forming social relationships. Children tend to seek proximity and more on romantic partnerships when adults focus on broadening one’s social network or if they are older ones they focus on emotionally close social bonds.
Anyway, it is an essential part of human-being to form and maintain social relationships in order to reproduce and survive.
Three Types of Love by Robert Sternberg
Basically, there are three types of love, defined in the triangular theory of love by Robert Sternberg. He defined three components of love: intimacy, passion, commitment. Sternberg discovered that different types of love are just different combinations of these three elements and relationship based on a single element has fewer chances to survive than one which is based on two or three of them. That is why there are such types of love as companionate, passionate, and compassionate one.
Companionate love is just an affection people usually feel for those with whom their lives are significantly interweaved. It is usually much stronger than friendship because of it has a long-term commitment. This type of love is achieved only between those partners who have an ability to positively reinforce each other's intimate behaviors. It is common to marriages where there is no passion present but commitment and deep affection remain.
Passionate love is explained as a state of intense longing for the matrimony with another and a state of passionate arousal in the absence of commitment and intimacy. Usually romantic relationships start with passionate love.
Compassionate love is often called altruistic love. That type of love usually "centers on the good of the other". It is distinct from compassion, altruism and romantic love.
